A couple comments... 1) Make sure the NXT port is NOT 0-based. The easy way to do that is to use your same program, and plug the IRLink into port 2. 2) The sequence beam is only required if you want to execute several block in sequence. I even managed to fill both nxt controllers completely, apparently there is a max amount of loops you can use in a program.
