Yep, I assume it was something garbled in there somewhere. Resetting to defaults did not help, but deleting the whole directory and reinstalling has fixed it.

Re: Understanding the HT Accelerometer Sensor
Thanks John. I was using the test program from the HiTechnic web page, but get the same results using NXT-G. But I appreciated your helpful advice. I'm suspecting a faulty (or mislabelled?) unit, and will work with HiTechnic support.

Understanding the HT Accelerometer Sensor
After being given a Hitechnic Accelerometer Sensor by my dear family for Christmas, I'm trying to make sense of it. Using the test program from the HT web page, written to use the ReadSensorHTAccel routine in BRICX, I see the following strange behaviour. X varies as I rotate the sensor horizontally,...

BRICX editor ignores non-alpha characters
I seem to come up against weird BRICX issues. When I try to edit a file I am seeing the editor quite willing to accept alphanumeric characters, but it totally ignores any control characters such as tab, newline, backspace, arrow keys... . Function keys which trigger BRICX actions (eg compile) are fi...

Hey, you should try buying one in Australia! The markup on the US price is about 60% for the identical product.

Re: Bricx won't find my NXT
After your helpful hint I found the cause of the Access Violation - or at least, I found what I suspect is the cause, and it is now gone :) As part of my testing for the earlier issue I had installed to a new path, and as a consequence the "User Data Path" in the Editor/Paths panel of the ...

Re: Bricx won't find my NXT
Thanks again, John. I was able to find an old NXT.DAT on a backup and restored that, and now most of the time BRICX starts quickly and finds the NXT. Every now and then it sits doing a search for a while and fails, and I need to select the NXT from the pull-down list and connect manually. So things ...

Re: Bricx won't find my NXT
Thanks John. It is good to have your explanation, although I had deduced some of it already. I found the nxt.dat file - zero bytes in length. Thinking to force a clean start, I downloaded the latest test release (3.3.8.10) and installed that. Maybe I was being too smart for myself, as I deleted the ...

Bricx won't find my NXT
Bricx Command Centre can no longer find my NXT over bluetooth. When I start it, the Tools->Find Brick Port option displays only Automatic/Search/usb - Automatic fails to find anything. - Search fails to connect, but after I do that, I see that the port list includes two new entries - one with just t...

Re: New to NXT - compatibility question
Doug, Being new to this as well a few months ago, I did a bit of a literature survey and finished up buying four books which I figured might cover the range. I'm a compute professional myself, but also have grandkids who will be starting from scratch in this. I have been pleased with the selection, ...
