ev3 and hackable Linux ?

Post by cobbaut »

So I have this new ev3 brick (education set), but it only comes with MS and Apple software (the latter being the MS software running on Mono). Is there a way to program it using Linux ? (anything I can beta-test?)
Is there a way to ssh or telnet into this new brick ?

cheers,
paul

PS Exciting month, the brickpi and the makeblock lego bridges should arrive soon.

No, we're very busy working on it, though.

If you have a Netgear WNA1100, you can configure it to connect to your WiFi network and telnet to it. Username: root, password: empty (as in nothing)

Paul,
Where did you find the Makeblock kit? I have been unable to find one.
Thanks,
John

Thanks guys for this:

Code: Select all

Rudolf 2011.01 EV3

login: root
root@EV3:~# uname -a
Linux EV3 2.6.33-rc4 #1 PREEMPT Thu Dec 13 11:17:16 CET 2012 armv5tejl unknown
root@EV3:~# cat /proc/cmdline
mem=64M initrd=0xC1180000,10M root=/dev/ram0 rw rootfstype=cramfs console=ttyS1,115200n8 ip=dhcp lpj=747520 quiet
This netgear dongle also works great on the pi!

PS I got two makeblock kits from theri kickstarter campaign, and buy extra parts from thelittlebritishrobotcompany.co.uk.
