Do you want to merge the Lego Mindstorms SE proposal into the Electronics and Robotics SE site?

Yes, that site suits us perfectly!

No, I want a site just for lego mindstorms!

No, that site isn't robotics-centred enough: I'd rather merge with a pure Robotics proposal.

StackExchange proposal merges

Post by nxtboy »

As some of you may have already heard via email, there is a proposal to merge the Lego Mindstorms Robotics StackExchange proposal (more details here) with the Electronics and Robotics site StackExchange site.

You can see the official discussion here.

Ignoring the fact that the Mindstorms site is not yet operational, what are your opinions on the merge? Do we want to join forces with mainstream roboticists, or do we want a site all to ourselves?

A site all to ourselves (I'm greedy) would be nice, but it wouldn't generate as many questions.
A healthy beta has around 1500 questions
We only would have a few weeks to get that many questions (in beta).

Also, we could have interaction from professional engineers (there aren't that many here), and even introduce Mindstorms to others.

Summary: After looking at all the factors, I think that the proposal should be merged with the Electronics StackExchange site.

"Electronics and Robotics" has dropped "Robotics"

Post by nxtboy »

The Electronics and Robotics recently graduated into a full-blown site, and in doing so, dropped the "Robotics" from its title. As a result, a merge is now irrelevant, so we should focus on the original proposal.
