Yes, thank you Xander, I know, but this is already the 2nd (redundand) server for rescue cases. Unfortunately my Informix database version runs only with Win2000Svr, and for newer hardware I would need Win2008Svr with also a new Informix database as well - for this issue all my data had to be exported, and then re-imported and converted to the new database structure. Quite a large effort and lot of costs for hard- and software and IT installation support.

In contrast, the 2nd Proliant with an extra Win2000Svr 10x licence was quite as a gift, I had enough extra RAM and 2 extra SCSI HDDs left from my first server and so it costed only 1/20 of what a new server might have costed.

If the mirroring from server1 to server2 won't work as expected, I will configure a fast client as an external file server and use server1 (or server2 alternatively) only as a domain server.
A virtual environment was also another option.

Success! Controller detected, both SCSI HDDs configured as RAID 0+1, created as 1 single virtual drive, formatted - all fine.
Now the detailed work begins to clone the first server to the second.
Many thanks for your help so far, Xander! :)
