I didn't ask, I just explained to John why I misunderstood his first explanations and what details caused these misunderstanding.

You never ever use the color sensor with its type set to full color if you want it to act anything like the original NXT light sensor. You have to use None, Red, Green, or Blue. Red is best for producing similar (not identical) results to the original light sensor in active mode.
Does anybody know what 'similar' means in this case? Lower? Higher? How much? Or sometimes higher, sometimes lower?
Just want to rebuild a NXT 1.0 project and only have the color sensor from 2.0...

It uses totally different HW. Even the difference in placement of the LED compared to the photo transistor will have an effect. I am guessing that both sensors are fairly linear, so you should be able to scale one to the other for similar results.
