where are all nxtasy old posts?
Re: where are all nxtasy old posts?
Maybe one of the super geeks (where I come from, it's not an honor to be called that ) can get a bot to search for all nxtasy pages in the google cache, and store them in a database. (Unless it's against the TOC for Google... Not that that has ever stopped me before. )
There's this thing called iMacros. Maybe someone can fix up a method to save all the pages using it?

Re: where are all nxtasy old posts?
Sadly, using a bot to get Nxtasy back is against the Terms and conditions of Google
and they block it if you do it for long enough.
but I-macros could work or you could do something like
it.
or you could do something with a NXT controlling a computer. like this:

and they block it if you do it for long enough.

I wonder if we could request them to give us the cache of nxtasy.org?timpattinson wrote:Sadly, using a bot to get Nxtasy back is against the Terms and conditions of Google

Should we do it the nice method, or my evil, evil method*. ( )
*Which is giving them some cookies (real kind), and ask "super nicely" if we could have the cache. To make sure we get it unencrypted, we should give cookies to their developers, too, so they don't feel left out and have their revenge.
And, BTW, how crazy are you to actually be able to see this? I mean, all this text is smaller than what an ant!

Been there, done that, no response. It's pointless.

Re: where are all nxtasy old posts?
I was fully prepared to write a program to retrieve nxtasy posts from the Google and Bing caches but I found that only tiny bits and pieces of forum threads with rare exceptions were retrievable from the cache. The way back machine was another approach I used but it also has just a small chunk of the actual content and nothing since back in 2008, iirc.
What I would do is if you happen to search for something mindstorms related and the links you get back are from the nxtasy forums and there is a cache link then save whatever it gives you and post those bits (if they seem to be worth keeping) on the mindboards forums.

I guess it's not just because he is dead...

Re: where are all nxtasy old posts?
Too bad.. Today I wanted to download again some blocks of the NXT-G like the Text to Numbers but I didnt find the page...
Now I found that is lost.. darn, In january I want to make a copy of the entire site of the nasty.org page but my internet conection was too slow and I cancelled. I also thouth that was illegal, but I only wanted to keep for future refernece.
Now I am lamenting, I hope the page restores, with the links too.

Actually, thanks to Martijn Boogaarts, I am in possession of all of the NXT-G blocks that were once hosted on NXTasy. I will be placing them online in the next few days.
