Personally, I like the "you'll turn into one of us" one. But the new one certainly beats fishing.

Yes, I quite like that. Maybe it's because you've managed to keep the "Teach a man to fish" message, but now it's more of an undertone to the main message of what the boards are about (i.e. building robots).

Or maybe it's just because, rather than conjuring up images of African farmers, I now see a bunch of adults who never grew out of playing with LEGO and I think "here I fit in!"

My problem is nobody ever taught me how to build... Maybe we should add a forum specific to building? I'd love to see BIs, construction tips, etc...

Yes I'd like to see that. I grew up with "traditional Lego" (though I did have the original Lego electric motor as supplied with the original Lego train set), technic sort of arrived about the same time I discovered girls (and computers!), and I've never really got to grips with it or the more recent beam and pin construction (just what are those funky angles all about)...

I agree, a robot building forum would be nice. It's quite close to the projects one, though. What do you think?

Nobody ever taught me to build technic lego's either, so all my learning I had to find, or get myself. Just some tips for trying to learn.

Build all your technic sets, then take them apart and build all the alternative models. (trust me, I know it can take a LONG time, as I have 25 technic+ sets, and at least 5 are about 600 or more pieces, one being over 1,800) I have built both models of all my technic sets at least once, and most at least twice. Just from building by the instructions, you can learn a LOT.

Go to youtube, and watch random videos of technic things (this is where I get most of my building tips from now, since I already built all my sets).

Try it yourself, even if you KNOW it will look wacky, or not ever be able to be finished. Once you understand the system, only the quantity of you lego's limits your building. I still built things all the time, that I know I will never finish, but it helps me learn HOW to do it, in case I ever what to add a similar contraption to a model I am working on.
