Came across this video on YouTube and see it has also been noted on NXT Step. Refers to 6 slaves.

Not sure if these are all actually connected or whether they are independent and merely working at the same time but in sync because of the flash.

Ya! I've seen that before, it's awesome! I don't know either if they're using RS-485 or Bluetooth or he just timed them JUST right. Thanks for the link though :)
