New beams

One of the things that strike me about LEGO is 'dimensional polarisation'.
Because all the holes on standard beams are on one face, it is difficult to add beams at right angles.
Does anyone know whether LEGO (or anyone else) are considering producing new beams which have the holes alternating on the sides and top?

The only custom stuff related that I know of are some
aluminum parts. As far as lego making parts like you describe, I haven't heard of any.

Yes, that is exactly what I was looking for!
Price is a bit high for me though.

Yeah, the prices are extremely high for "legos", but in reality, they aren't too much (compared to other aluminum stuff).

There are a few select options when wanting to connect at 90 degree angles, actually. Unfortunately none of them are beams, however if you are willing to spend some $ (these parts are $1.50-2.00 a pop) and have some modded parts, you could buys
some of these parts and cut them into beam sections. Just an alternative to having aluminum parts.

This is also apparently the 1111th post in this subforum...

That open-centre beam shows that it is possible, wonder why Lego did not make more beams like that?
Thanks for the links.

They're really complex to make and therefore expensive.
