Status for NXC programming with the EV3?

Hello there!
I'd like to excuse myself, if the question is answered somewhere else, but I have immense problems with getting an overview of the status of NXC programming of the EV3. Is it possible?

If it is, how do I compile the nxc files properly?

AFAIK, it doesn't exist nothing yet.
Just "real" C for BCC targeting the ev3 (rather vestigial yet, see different threads).
