Brixcxx unable to debug

Hi All,
New member here, I have used the BricxCC IDE and NXC software before but I am having issues with version 3.3.8.9 on Windows 98.
It is installed and communicating with the NXT but I cannot get any of the debug tools to work (greyed out) and I cannot set breakpoints.
My programs download and runl but I cannot debug.
Any help would be appreciated.
