a Lego joke worth while an own topic: minifig female quota

a Lego joke - but worth while of an own topic:

I'd like to think that at least 50% of the Mindboards' members are female, but I hope that there are at least a dozen.

Building sets, Lego or otherwise used to be a typical male item. Has that changed?

no idea how the female ratio of Mindstorms or Lego set users is. Probably it's nearly close to 50% (maybe particularly the younger girls like less the pure technical but more the social theme and pets stuff). In our school's robotic courses it's mostly 50/50 or even 60/40 for girls/boys.
But i found it really funny how the Lego employee /assistance defends herself against the charge that the female dolls were under-represented in numbers, and would also not be represented in higher education careers:
- (Lego employee:) "But look, e.g., here in our Atlantis set we even have a woman with a demanding job, here e.g. is a female professor included! :ugeek: "
- (Reporter): "...but that is now rather more of a Fantasy World ... "
- (Lego employee:) "correct. (she thinks...) ha. haha."

Political correctness, women's lib and women's quota for Lego dolls in Legoland - I shutter. Image

With Knut's death and a few minor other things going on in the world, I would like to think that Spiegel.tv would find something else to report on. Sounds more like something for Stern.tv

With all the senseless violence, repression and power abuse scandals, you would think they'd have something more pressing to report on than the ratio of Lego minifigs.

The boys who play with Lego city don't want to play with girls, they want to play with Lego. This isn't going to warp their fragile little minds. Lego has always been and will most likely always be a predominantly toy for boys. It's mostly marketed at boys. Nobody is putting a halt to the anorexia inducing Barbi dolls.

This over-the-top PC stuff makes me sick.

Reading between the lines, I assume Spiegel TV actually isn't taking this issue serious itself. It's more a gloss or kind of satirical report about the fact that some feminists transfer their notion of a universal equality and representation quota already on to the mini-Lego world, and (now acting like the "advocatus diaboli") by what strange contortions now Lego itself reacts on this claim. Really funny indeed.

edit1: we shouldn't take this issue too serious, too. it's just "sound and fury, signifying nothing"...
edit2: (aha, "minifigs" is the correct term for what I called "Lego dolls"...)

Bit late on this topic but, If you have a YouTube account: It has many cool things in "Insite". I have had one for some time now and one thing that seems very constant in ratio of male to female. At least at my site and depending on how many tell the truth about there gender, it has been 10% femal for about 5 years now. this is with a sample of youtube users, of just over 1.3 million visitors. Also it seems that people in Germany and Netherlands seem to have the longer interest and return more to review, followed by china!( they are stealing my inventions!!! I kid :) all my stuff is open source, copy it make it better.

Also most these female viewers are old as well? most over 50!!! So all you young guys this might not be as happy now :)
