E3 for LEGO's :-)

Has anyone ever head of E3? Basically it's a big convention for video game developers to show off their upcoming stuff (Like, this year, Nintendo is showing off their Wii 2).

What if LEGO did something like that? It would be just another event (like Brickfest or Brickworld, etc.) but put together by TLG!

Or, do they already have something like this?

What do you think? Leave some comments here!

Well you've got Lego world in Holland. But I don't think it's got upcoming stuff (anybody know more?).. But I think I saw lego mindstorms on some kind of tech-toys exhibition on the gadget show before it came out (not sure). It'd be pretty cool to have something like that though (especially for mindstorms :))

Hmm... It seems that this topic is not getting much attention. News about new and upcoming LEGO sets are pretty easy to come by if you're a lego club member. So I'm not sure if there would be much of a point. Not an awful idea though.

While I don't think it makes sense for LEGO to put on a show like this to display new Mindstorms sets (Mindstorms has really only had two sets in the last five years), there are shows, like you mentioned, where some of display cool things made with Mindstorms.

And, if you want to attend one of these events, I think Brickworld is the best (in the US) for Mindstorms. This year, I think there will be ten Mindstorms Community Partners (MCPs) at Brickworld, not to mention HiTechnic will be there to show off new sensors.

True. So maybe they should have a tour around the US. I live in Oregon, so it's REALLY far away from where I live :-(. But, events like Brickworld don't show new PRODUCTS, but rather new MOC's. So, maybe not EVERY year, but maybe something that will peak people's interest a little before they release the product. And, I'm not saying JUST for Mindstorms. Maybe for the LEGO company itself, or LEGO Universe updates, etc.

P.S. I really hope they will move Brickworld closer to where I live (at least the west coast would be better)

Well, I'm not sure about you, but we were able to find out about the LEGO MINDSTORMS NXT 2.0 quite some time before it came out. Also, I am doubtful that they will move Brickworkd at all. Sorry if you take me for a pessimist, but that's what I believe.

I would love to go, but I'll be in PA next weekend :( Chicago is only about 4 hours from here ;)
