I am looking to start a robotics program at our elementary school. I have no background; we were inspired by the a display we saw at a robotics fair which had kids showing their First Lego League projects.
I have a mindstorms education base set (9797) and resource set (9695).
We will be meeting with interested parents when the school year starts next week.
I see there are several books available. We are looking for recommendations on which book to get. On amazon I see:
http://www.amazon.com/MINDSTORMS-NXT-G- ... 1590598717
http://www.amazon.com/Core-LEGO-MINDSTO ... 0130093645
We're (obviously) novices so any push in the right direction is appreciated.

New to forum, mindstorms/FLL beginner question
Re: New to forum, mindstorms/FLL beginner question
I would recommend using Laurens Valk's book: [LINK], since Java cannot be used in FLL. It really teaches how to program the NXT through NXT-G very well. While the models may be geared toward the retail NXT 2.0 set, you should be able to make most models with some minor modifications.
There is a very good reason this book is in its 3rd reprint (or perhaps even more now) and has been translated into German as well.
