Random Comments

Feel free to post site-related comments here. Sourceforge master John has done a great job of ironing things out, or reporting them to SF people, when they are discovered.

A couple things have been noted:
Attaching PNG files
Ad security with IE

With respect to IE and prompting you about mixed content (i.e., ads delivered via http when you are logged into the forums via https) you have the option of changing your IE security settings for the Internet zone.

If you switch from "prompt" to "enable" then the annoying prompt will go away. Other internet zone sites that use mixed content will no longer prompt you either, so do this after careful consideration. Rather than do that you might consider using Chrome, Safari, or FireFox.

There is also an issue currently with IE that doesn't seem to affect other popular browsers when you click through the Forums link from www.mindboards.net. You may notice that the IE address bar continues to show www.mindboards.net and when you try to login to post on the forums the redirect from the login page does not work correctly. Chrome, Safari, and FireFox all seem to work fine in my tests but not IE. If you want to keep using IE you can right click on the Forums link and pick "open in new window" or "open in new tab". This should fix the problem since the browser URL will not be masked as "www.mindboards.net". It should display "http://sourceforge.net/apps/phpbb/mindboards" and logging in should work fine.

I would quickly use Chrome, if my work would allow me to.

Any chance of getting a "view unread posts" link at somewhere at the top of the page? It appears to be available only on the main board page.

I am not seeing an option for this in the board's settings. There is also no way for us to tweak the HTML/PHP code for these forums as it's a hosted app.

Is the workaround of "open in new window" not working for you?

You should always be able to go directly to forums.mindboards.net and it should (theoretically) work fine.

Same issue for me with Firefox 3.6 on Ubuntu 10, but the workaround mentioned above works.
It's not crucial anyway for me, as I usually enter the forum by the links contained in the subscription mails (which works fine).
