Large numbers on the NXT screen

Post by sqiddster »

For a current project, I would like to be able to display fairly large numbers on the NXT screen, about 3 times as large as the current ones would be good.
I am using NXT-G. I heard of an advanced text display block, but with the death of NXTasy

*moment of silence*

it is nowhere to be found!

Some help would be appreciated.

Many thanks, sqiddster.

Here's a RIC based font file that works with the NXT-G Advanced Text Display Block. You just need to get the file into the same directory as the fonts supplied with the block and it'll show up in the drop down window.

The characters are 8*12 pixels with a 1 pixel border. That makes the text about 1.5 times the standard font; smaller than you want but definitely a lot more readable. I also have a font with characters 31 pixels tall but that's probably bigger than you want.

hi
here is a collection of fonts (up to 12pt), a test program (printfgr3.nxc), and a tool (RicFont.exe) by which you can quickly construct your own custom fonts of any size out of Windows fonts

Thanks everyone, but what I'm really looking for is a way to get the advanced text display block.

That link is for advanced image display, slightly different than advanced text display.

I've attached my archived version of advanced text display from nxtasy. Hopefully a repository can get added somewhere here to contain this type of recovered stuff.

Anything that seems appropriate for the new MindBOARDS repository can be added to the repository folder here:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/mindboards/files/

You can send archives or source code files that you can recover from the old forums or that you think would be beneficial to the MINDSTORMS community to my afanofosc or bricxcc email address at comcast dot net and I will upload them to the repository folder.

Many thanks. This is too bad that NXTasy block repository is gone, there were so many useful blocks!

Ronmcrae, that 31 pixel font would actually be perfect.
Could you attatch that?

P.S. how do you install the fonts? I tried to just unzip the file to the 'fonts' directory, but that doesn't seem to be working.

Hmm. Ronmcrae seems to have disappeared...
Does anyone have a good font? It needs to be as big as possible, as long as 4 number digits can fit across the screen.
