NXC, monitors 2? Thanks for any ideas.
It doesn't look like these kind of details have been released by LEGO yet. It will probably be closer to launch before we know for sure. But if it is running Linux on an ARM9 at 300mhz with 64mb RAM and 16mb flash with support for a micro SD card and USB peripherals then it sounds like we can do some pretty awesome things with it.

what makes the NXT sooooooo aaaawwwwwwfully sloooooow is the bytecode interpreter. If we had genuine ARM machine code it would be at least 100x faster already now I guess !

But because we will have a Linux Operating system on EV3 which is already MT-capable we now will hopefully have a genuine MT machine code C compiler for EV3 and no byte code interpreter any longer!!
That will certainly break the sound barrier!

Has lots of close ups of some of the new bits.

Thanks to Motayan for hanging these on Flickr

This M motor looks like the motor I always have wanted for the NXT! I have read that the EV3 will be able to know what is connected to its port. I wonder how it works and whether a new motor can be connected to an old NXT.

Nice! Very nice!

Some remarks.

At first I didn't like the shape of the motors. But then I thought that it might be very handy. It is easier now to build tight and sturdy.

I like the ir sensor. As a beackon finder it is great for navigation. But it also can be a remote I think.

The medium motor is a great addition. I would like to know how strong it is and how fast it turns.

I also noticed the change in mounting holes on the sensors. It used to be ooo, now it is o+o.

There is a picture on the education site that shows orange ridges that can be put on the wide Lego tracks. This could help us to build better tracked vehicles. The tracks by themselves don't have enough grip on flat surfaces.

Of course I do love the better specs. This opens all kinds of uncharted terrain.

No. From what I've gathered, the Education version of the set includes a Gyro sensor (external sensor, like a touch sensor).

To bad. how tough would it had been to simply install the 99 cent chip to the mother board like a cell phone has.
