NXT + Raspi = BrickPi

This is the best thing ever. Juts so you know.

I think it's funny that for €35 you get a 800Mhz and 512MB RAM computer while several hundred euros will get you an unreleased LEGO thing with 300Mhz and 64MB RAM.

The Raspi can also probably handle a webcam. Any idea if the EV3 can do this? It also has host USB supposedly.

Actually the RPi runs at 700MHz (unless it's overclocked).

I haven't personally used a webcam with the RPi, but I've heard that it does work. I doubt the EV3 will be able to handle a webcam, but I suppose it might be possible. And yes, the EV3 does have a USB host port (it officially handles a Wifi dongle and a USB flash drive, but no mention of a webcam AFAIK).

The Pi can handle a webcam, albeit with a slower framerate. But they just released a camera designed specifically for the Pi which can deliver 1080p video at 30fps to it.

If that works I will try compiling OpenCV on the BrickPi. That will be a lot better than
