Who was the winner of the NXT ant?
Who was the winner of the NXT ant?
I was wondering who was the winner of the Nxtasy NXT ant challenge?
Re: Who was the winner of the NXT ant?
If i recall correctly it was "dad & adam". Though it was not the one to lift the most weight the comp had time and weight and i think the least was looks? So you had to balance the three to be first. There might be some utubes still to be found on this. It was a fun contest and a lot of back and forth since we posted out work and were able to improve until the dead line made it very competitive.e4615 wrote:I was wondering who was the winner of the Nxtasy NXT ant challenge?

Re: Who was the winner of the NXT ant?
Yes, it was us -dad and Adam.
The contest was back in 2007. Scoring was based on the ratio of the weight carried to the weight of the vehicle. Plus the time factored into it somehow. The vehicle had to carry the weight for one meter. We used a bar bell with weight plates for the weight.
Here's the winning entry's statistics:
Weight of vehicle: 1.78 lbs (.81 kg)
Weight carried: 78.1 lbs (35.4 kg)
Time: 27 seconds.
Here's a picture of the vehicle. A video was never posted. I still have the video. It's about 1 minute long and 117 mb. I don't have a youtube account. Let me know if anyone (with a youtube account) would be interested in posting it for me. -I didn't want to create an account for a single video (too many accounts to keep track of already). I could condense the size down if needed.

Re: Who was the winner of the NXT ant?
I have two sites i can load this for you, at my Blog. Or if you would rather it be on utube ican use that as well. that was a great contest.
Here is the Video
This was amazing too. Looks like 1 NXT motor lifting over 78Lbs. This shows how well made this bot is and how well these little motors are built too. One drives it as well but counting the bot thats over 80lbs.!!!! just stunning.

Some additional ifo from "Dad & Adam" about this Robot.
"Thanks for posting my video.
I was reading the youtube comments and have some additional information.
The laser line was not used for tracking. It was used to line things up before starting. I forgot to turn it off.
No tracks of any kind. Yes, the rubber walked right off the rims if the tires were kept on. -Plus the tires added extra weight.
One motor for moving and one motor for lifting. No stearing."
