Going straight with gyro sensor

Post by alexgd »

Hi everybody,

I was wondering, if it would be possible to enable a robot to drive a straight line using Hitechnic's gyro sensor. I am not quite sure, whether the sensor could detect slight changes of the robot's steering. Would it be possible to sample the sensor at a specific rate per second (say 50 times) and then calculate the steering of the robot from that value?

Best wishes,
Alex

Yes, it can do this. But you have to understand your sensor to do it right. There is a lenghty discussion on this forum about noisy gyro's that will help. On my blog there is some more usefull info about the gyro.
