Suggestion: dedicated NXC board
It seems to me that NXC traffic has reached a volume on the Mindstorms Software board that it deserves a board of it own.

I agree with you. It might deter new members from posting NXT-G questions in the software board if they see that 95% of the questions are about NXC, not that I have anything against NXC, quite the opposite in fact.

I like the idea, but the problem is that it also entails moving OT questions from one to the other sub forums, which can get quite tedious.

How do you see this being implemented? I am not going to implement a sub forum for every conceivable programming language or dialect thereof. I am not keen to have really quiet sub forums either.

I like the idea of those two.
Well, as said before, most of the other programming languages have a website with forum dedicated, so I think only "NXC" and "Everything else" is needed here for now.

Re: Suggestion: dedicated NXC board
What I'd do is add a "tag" of "NXC: " to the title of every thread (which is solely about NXC, of course). That way, we don't have to isolate the NXC users. (Or make them kings*, if you prefer.)

Re: Suggestion: dedicated NXC board
I think part of the idea is to not flood all the other topics (non-NXC) with the NXC ones. I don't think the reason would be to have all the NXC topics together, as much as to separate them from the others.

Re: Suggestion: dedicated NXC board
Creating a whole board for NXC would probably be too much work, especially since the admins also have a life to live . You could implement a rule like only one new thread in a board per day, but that might be a bit over-kill and would drive some people away. Or, in light of what muntoo suggested, maybe an option to filter out certain threads if they don't go over a certain amout of posts. That way you could use tags to filter certain things. Not sure how easy/feasible that would be.

Re: Suggestion: dedicated NXC board
I think that would be fine. My thinking was non-NXC programmers might want to be freed from all the NXC traffic. If, in the future, some other language gets as much traffic as NXC, that would be the time to consider adding another sub-forum.mightor wrote:I like the idea, but the problem is that it also entails moving OT questions from one to the other sub forums, which can get quite tedious.
