Restaurate the old forum content?

Post by mrblp »

Hello all,

Found some people here again :-)

What about all those articles in forums.nxtasy.org? Does anyone have a copy of them? The alternative is to write those articles new...

The only people with copies are Aplus hosting who won't give us the data and then there's Google Cache.

We have to consider the data lost.

Fortunately, while the posts may be difficult or impossible to retrieve from the web, their content is still in the minds of the people who wrote them so they can definitely be written again. They were often written multiple times on the nxtasy forums and will probably be here as well.

I will move this thread to the Site suggestion/comment forum since it is not really about LEGO MINDSTORMS software but more about the forums/site.

Does anybody know what went wrong there?
and then there's Google Cache.
I tried this before asking but my linux article seems to be lost :-( But I will search for it again...

Yes but some of them are lazy (like me) and don't like to write the same things again...

Sorry, you are of course right and thank you for moving.

I will see if I can find any traces of your linux article, marvin. Can you think of a good search string?

What happened to all that NXTasy data that eric backed up? (I think he said he would, but I can't remember...) If we can ever contact him, and he has the back up, could we use that data?

I'm sure he still could provide all the content that was on NXTasy 'till pretty much the day it went down and I'm sure that our resourceful admins could stick it up somewhere (big job though, to sort it all) but the problem is getting some sort of reply from him in the first place. Even with the wonders of the internet, I doubt that will ever happen. I forget his last name but last time I searched for his full name I came up with several hundred replies. Now, it seems that everyone has FaceBook and such and you'd think that he'd have it as well but I highly doubt that even if you went through every hit turned up you would not find the real Eric, FaceBook or elsewhere.

-EDIT- I think that his last name is Burdo. About 3,130 hits using Google. Seems there is a boxer or something named that as well. I did come up with a Google Profile. Maybe someone wants to see if they could use the info to find him http://www.google.com/profiles/edburdo. Might not even be the real Eric.

However, we are all entailed to our own privacy, let him have it if he wants it. Sorry, just realized this is all way OT.

Sorry, I'm wrong. Eric D. Burdo is a contributor over at TheNXTStep.com. Got the two confused :| .

Do not forget about Eric the Half a Bee. There are just so many Erics around. Perhaps we should call them all Bruce, to avoid confusion.

As for the data, it's gone. If we had had a chance to restore NXTasy, we would have.
