bad search function

Post by HaWe »

can anyone improve the search function?
I just as looking for my astar thread (searching only in thread titles - or even over all) but it says it's a too common word.
(what a nonsense!)

I've tried that search bar, and it isn't much better. A topic much like this one I believe has been started only a few topics down, heres the original topic.

I see, so you mean that you have a similar complaint that you believe is slightly different, and has a contrast between itself and rghansen's large enough to deserve its own topic? And you'd prefer that over just bumping the original topic? I think that they are similar enough. Oh well.

I simply didn't see the other thread before opening this one, so sorry, My Lord.
But Lord, Thou don't need to copy all those quotes into Thy Reply to my worthless chatter.

@ mods/admins:
you may move it to the end of the other thread if you wish to.

Alright, that's understandable.

How? How can we as regular members of this forum edit the search algorithm used to find topics on these forums? Or are you trying to make a pun with what doc-helmut is wanting to find? I was seriously considering taking that as a joke.

The search algorithm is maintained by phpBB. You can write to them. Then, once your feature request is status-complete, you can tell SourceForge to upgrade its forum software. Then, yay, we've got "A+ search".

(And, yes, it was a pun. :) One way you can tell, is that no one in their right minds would try to write an A* for searching through pages of text. That's just totally Donald Knuth.)
