Re: Bricxcc and firmware test versions

Post by afanofosc »

I have mentioned on these forums the changes that I have made since the latest official release (3.3.8.8). The BricxCC executable in the test release that I uploaded this morning is version 3.3.8.9, or at least it should be. I have not updated the release notes, as you noticed. I fixed a problem recently posted about with local enum constants in switch case labels. I also fixed a compiler optimization bug mentioned in this thread on 2 Nov 2010 at 07:57. Lots of API function additions and changes - mostly related to mindsensors.com devices, HiTechnic devices, Codatex devices, and RS-485 communication. There are too many to list in the release notes.

I have not yet implemented support for the HiTechnic motor controllers but that is on my TODO list. Too many things on that list...

The latest test release is in the test_releases folder as a zip file - it is not an official release so it is not available via the URL you provided.

I know about the last test beta release, but I was talking about a Bricx 3.3.8.9 final release (??)

If I ever said anything anywhere about an official release of 3.3.8.9 being available then I spoke incorrectly. That will be the next official release (probably) but it isn't ready for official releasing yet.

When's the next release? You did say you'd upload a [final?] release last week, IIRC.

If it'll take a while for the new release to be posted, can you post the release notes instead?

Thanks, almighty glok for thee, and may thy gook not beseech since our forefathers!

John,
when can we expect the next NXC / BricxCC / fw releases?
Please tell us what features will be changed or will be new!
Thx in advance!

Well, he was about to post it then there was an additional feature suggested which improved motor control plus another couple of requested revisions. This not only has to be coded but checked to ensure it works. Then the help files have to be upgraded and so on. And all done part-time ......

I am also looking forward the latest version but there is no point in rushing a release which will probably have to be amended, which would require everyone to download and install it again.

thx John,
(actually I meant the other John, the one from Nashville, not from Albania) ;)
not all possible issues have to be resolved all at once -
because of this I've been asking for an interim release
(especially because of the HT Tetrix motor controller driver...)
